GAËLLE KERDILÈS
ARTIST STATEMENT
The original influence for my ceramic pieces was the “plastic bag”. It is a metaphor for the mass pollution of this world and it has been the starting point for many of my structures.
The planes created by deconstructing the footprints of these bags have now been given new lives in pieces where facets collide, rhythms and movement abound.
Objects emerge which are of an architectural nature, influenced by many aspects of my surroundings. These complex ceramic sculptures with their delicate but rich surfaces encapsulate the ever present contradiction of living today.
