ARTIST STATEMENT
My ceramic sculpture “Victim or Valiant” explores the complex nature of building a new life in a strange environment, reflecting also on the interpretations of my past life. They investigate the relationship between taking risk whilst maintaining balance and through the expression of this I hope to relate to others in a similar situation.
Clay is my base material, but I use metal, wood, fibre and any other appropriate materials to complement these, choosing the scale and techniques that I employ in relation to my specific idea.
I want my work to empower people, inspiring confidence in, and understanding of change.
